About Winchester Rural North
The neighbourhood team have provided the following description of their work:
The villages of Kings Worthy and Abbots Worthy lie approximately 2 miles (3.2km) to the north of Winchester, on the edge of the chalk lands of the Hampshire Downs.
The rural settlement of Abbots Worthy is the smaller of the two villages and lies to the east of urban Kings Worthy. Parts of Kings Worthy and the whole of Abbots Worthy are designated Conservation Areas. It has a variety of local shops and convenience stores which fit in perfectly with the area. The church is St Marys. The village also holds a Sports & Social Club and a village hall which is home to the Drama group. There is a small primary school and the local recreation ground, with playground/fitness equipment and football pitches and a basketball/football court, is very popular. This also homes an active youth football club for all ages both boys and girls. The main road (Springvale Road) is fairly busy, and is served by regular buses coming every 20 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every hour on Sundays and bank holidays.
This area is covered by the Neighbourhood Policing Team based in Kings Worthy.
